Hadrians Wall

Hadrian's Wall - World Heritage Site

Hadrian's Wall is a magnificent example of Roman engineering and worthy of its World Heritage Status.  Find out about the Romans, why the Wall is here and enjoy the natural beauty of this wild World Heritage Site.

Wonderful open views of stunning Border countryside, history brought to life and a guided tour (if required) of one of our amazing Roman forts.  These include Birdoswald, Housesteads and Vindolanda.  Which one we visit depends on the start point of the tour, the amount of time available and the walking ability of your group.  The Roman Army Museum is an extremely worthwhile place to visit and will really enhance your group's understanding of this complex area.  We can make a stop at one of the most spectacular sections of the Wall where guests can visit a milecastle, walk along the Wall and take photographs.

Your tour could begin in the centre of Carlisle with a visit to Tullie House Museum with its new Roman Gallery or spend the whole day exploring the Wall.

The World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall extends down the coast as far as Ravenglass and for a tour with a difference you could extend your stay and travel by train to explore the Roman Bath House at Ravenglass and then perhaps have a trip on the steam train La'al Ratty.

As part of the Frontiers of the Roman Empire, Hadrian's Wall is a significant landmark and monument running across the whole of northern England.  The Roman history is well documented at various locations, with each site having something special and different to offer visitors.
