Beatrix Potter's Lakeland

A 'must' for fans of Peter Rabbit - but there is much more to Beatrix Potter than fluffy animals

Visit Beatrix Potter's Lakeland home, Hill Top.  Enjoy wandering around her pretty cottage garden, still set out just as she planned it and the setting for some of her stories.  View houses in the village which feature in the stories and even spot Mr McGregor!

Lunchtime is spent in the charming village of Hawkshead where your guests can enjoy a guided tour if desired.  This was Beatrix's local village and the place where her husband, William Heelis had his office.  This is now the National Trust owned Beatrix Potter Gallery, full of original works of art by Beatrix and a delightfully quirky building in its own right.

With time at leisure, there are plenty of places to purchase Beatrix Potter merchandise and take photographs.

In the afternoon we will enjoy a scenic drive around the countryside which Beatrix Potter loved and did so much to preserve for the nation.  We will see the farm where the film 'Miss Potter', starring Renee Zellweiger, was filmed.

For something really special, I can arrange tours of the private home which Beatrix lived in with her husband.  Sit in her lounge, overlooking the meadow where she walked every day and see the woman and farmer behind the storyteller.  This house is not open to the public.

It is essential that this tour is booked well in advance.

Hill Top is extremely busy and it is never possible to turn up with a group without pre-booking.  Only 2 coaches per day are allowed into the village so the sooner it is booked the more likely you are to get your desired date.
